The Fields are Ripe for Harvest
WELCOME TO SOCCER PLUS NEW ZEALAND
Linking Football with Faith
SoccerPlus NZ is committed to presenting Christ wherever a soccer ball is being kicked.
Getting on The Field This is achieved by various means:-
- MISSION TO ARGENTINA & CHILE - Without a doubt this was one of the most fruitful and exciting missions trips SoccerPlus NZ has undertaken. The young team was awesome and so were the hosts. We had unprecedented media coverage, which helped further our cause to make Christ known and bless the churches/ministries we worked with. Football is a passion in South America and we were able to ride that passion. However, many people heard about Christ and we pray they will have discovered a passion for Him. Watch for more news and photos. Also a plan to return to South America at the end of 2010 with a full guys and girls team. Are you interested?
- Kids Soccer Camps - The latest kids soccer camp for those aged 9-12 was at Totara Springs, Matamata. We shared the programme with the holiday kids camp. The kids who chose the soccer option had the opportunity to enjoy the great camp facilities and do a tonne of soccer. Congratulations to Marcus Brooking for being the first camper to win the Nathan Woolley Trophy back to back. Our next camps will be July 12-16 Carey Park Henderson, September 26-30 Willow Park Eastern Beach. ]]
- Teen Soccer Camp - Register your interest to me by email for an awesome weekend of soccer, chaos and some great personal challenges (climaxed by a football match on the last day). The first weekend in December needs to be kept free for this. ]].
- Call2All Conference- I was excited to be a part of the Call2All global evangelism conference in Tauranga in January. There were a lot of good speakers and heaps of young people taking in the concept of global missions. There's certainly a lot out there in this big world.
- Overseas Soccer Missions - Since 1998 SoccerPlus NZ has run over 20 soccer missions to 12 countries and shared this experience with over 150 Kiwis. On these missions you can expect to play games against teams of varying levels from top club teams to local kids, run coaching programmes for players who have hardly played as well as players who have careers ahead and work alongside churches and mission organisations all for the purpose of presenting Christ. Invitations to Guatamala and Jamaica as well as Uganda, Fiji and India are before us.
In 2011 we have opportunities to go to Uganda, Nigeria, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Bangladesh or Brazil. Register your interest to me. I'd love to take a team to any of these countries. These missions depend on personal. If you have an interest to be a part of a team to any of these countries please contact me.
- Birthday Parties - What about inviting a SoccerPlusNZ team (4-6 of us) to run a soccer birthday party. This can be evangelistic and soccer or just soccer.
- Networking - It is important for us as a ministry to network with other ministry organisations and Churches. You may find us sharing in churches a message exhorting Christians to be purposeful in the walk or speaking to a group of young people encouraging them to make their life count for the sake of the Gospel.
- Hosting - Our proposed plan to bring a team from South America to New Zealand has been put on hold. We are still planning to do it, but the process of funding such a venture is a massive challenge. The opportunity to see high level players in New Zealand sharing about Jesus while playing exites me and I am convinced it will one day happen. Bookmark this site!
SUCCESSFUL IN PERTH
Having retained the mens trophy in 2008 in Brisbane, we came back from Perth 2009 empty handed. Well done to the boys for being gracious in defeat at the State Churches National Tournament. Well done to Leighton, Isaac, Graham (captain, Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament) and Ned for making the All Star team. However, the trip was more about building a relationship with Christian Football players and organisations with the goal to establish SoccerPlus OZ. The process has taken a huge leap forward - watch this space. This year's tournament is in NSW. We will host the 2011 tournament at Totara Springs, Matamata.
